The assembler directive - PROC is used to define a Procedure. Therefore, when the subprogram contains less than 10 instructions, Macros are more efficient to use in such cases. Macros are useful over Procedures when the number of instructions in the set is less. Hence, it is optimal to use Procedures when the number of instructions is more than 10. It is better to use Procedures for a set of a large number of instructions. Number of Instructions that can be effectively handled by the microprocessor Submitted by Monika Sharma, on August 04, 2019ĭifferences between Procedures and Macros Characteristic Here, we will define how the Procedures and the Macros are different from each other? In this article, we are going to mention the differences about the two ways in which modular programming is implemented in the Assembly Language programming in the 8086 microprocessors.
